How do I learn more about Theodora and Justinian’s reign

There’s a lot of depth you can get into because the Byzantine Empire has an incredibly long history, plus getting to know context from the Roman Empire. But here are some great resources that I really loved to get you started.
Extra History: Justinian & Theodora
This was the series that got me interested in Theodora! I was captivated by the sheer ambition of their reign, and I highly recommend watching their other videos!
Overly Sarcastic Productions: Byzantine Beginnings
Another of my favourite YouTube channels did an overview of the Byzantine empire, which was really helpful for understanding the relative success of Justinian’s reign.
The History of Byzantium Podcast
Robin Pierson’s podcast goes through the details of the entire Byzantine empire (all 1000 years!). He also has amazing resources on his blog.
The Cambridge Companion to the Age of Justinian by Michael Maas
This book provides a comprehensive view of all aspects of their reign, from foreign relations to domestic policy to religious ideology. If you’re looking to dive into a secondary source, I’d recommend this!
